We haven't been able to make it for a couple of years. Here is the last time we went in 2011 2nd annual smokin’ in the square bbq cookoff.
This year it was a little different for us. We had a friend that threw his smoker in the ring and competed, which, by design, meant my husband was by his side for the better part of it.
This is our friend, Kevin. It was his first year in competition, but it won't be his last!
I made it later on Saturday. Walked to the park from where I finally got a parking place. I love all the old homes around the park.
It so happend that today was the McGuire's St. Patrick's Day 5k run, which I didn't go to either. But, there were left over leprechauns that found their way to the square.
Here is my happy husband and another friend, Ned. Don't they look like they are having a good time?
This was their 'camp' at the park. Where, apparently, several pork butts were smoked to perfection. Along with shrimp, fish, mushrooms, and whatever else they could find.
There were all sorts of things to see. Not just smokers.
Some of the set ups were quiet impressive. Others were simple but effective.
A few dogs made it pass the canine police. Chance and I were not so lucky. I finally just took him home.
There were so many people there today!
This is Kevin's wife, Amber, and baby. This baby had the most adorable chubby cheeks, and brilliant blue eyes. Kevin said they call her bright eyes.
Besides the sweet baby, they had four boys. And they were all boys. Quite entertaining!
And there you have it. Oh...Kevin got 10th place! Impressive when you see what they were up against.
